Sherk on Steroids? - “Wasn’t it obvious” says BJ Penn

Bj Penn interview on CBS2.comIn a recent interview with B.J. Penn and CBS television (Los Angels affiliate KCAL9) Penn had a lot to say about his future and most noteably the recent MMA steroids scandal.  What was on his mind?

First, BJ really wants to be the UFC Lightweight title holder, a dream he’s had for years.  He was looking forward to fighting Sean Sherk and putting on a memorable fight until he was busted.

When asked about Sherk getting suspended for steroids, his repsonse was “When I first heard of the news I thought, isn’t it obvious that he’s on something the way he looked?”  Penn didn’t finish there, he also went on to say that if you plan on beating him, “grow some balls and beat me without steroids.”  Although he didn’t drop any names, BJ said he felt like he has fought a couple of opponents who were on steroids at the time.

A few other comments he made during the interview include:  Over the next couple of years he thinks he can fight at both 155lb and 170lbs.  Now that he is older he would like to shake “The Prodigy” moniker.  Lastly, as his career has shifted, he’s dedicated to training harder.

I agree with BJ. Just look at the guy. I read that his test turned up a 12% rating. Normal would be 3% and an extreme athlete could get a 6%. Sherk is double that! No way this guy gets off on his appeal.

  2. Mike&Ike Says:

6% according to who? Sprinters often test in the 10%.

  3. Big D Says:

According to the California State Athletic Commission. Sorry, I wrote percent and I should have written ng/mL whatever the hell that means.

Normal levels of Nandrolone range from 2 ng/mL (average person) to 6 ng/mL (athlete engaged in rigorous activity). Mr. Sherk’s reported level certified by the Director of Science and Technology from the laboratory that conducted the tests was 12 ng/mL. Both the “A” sample and “B” sample were tested and confirmed as positive.

Its funny, If all you ever saw of Sean Sherk was a pitcure of the waist up, not standing next to someone, you would think the guy was 5′10” 250lbs.

BJ would kill Sherk, just like St. Pierre and Hughes did.

What should BJ’s new nick name be?

    Mr. Fantastic?

  5. captain_o Says:

sherk always looked like he was on juice.
this didn’t suprise me at all.

  6. Pedro Says:

Sherck, definatly on roids. Just look at the guy. He had muscles on muscles.

I think BJ shouldnt get a new nickname and just call himself BJ, kinda like Jlo.

Instead of a nickname he should wear gi’s, and T-Shirts with the word “kolohe” on them. It means rascal, or mischevious in hawaiian.

Maybe he could be BJ “the kolohe” Penn.

  7. Gmoney Says:

If he ends up fighting sherk, he should change his nick name to “The Natural” just for that fight ^.^ lol
