“Al Bundy” Talks MMA
What makes Ed O’neil (the actor who played Al Bundy on the TV show Married with Children) qualified to make any statements regarding the sport of mixed martial arts? For one thing, he’s been training jiu-jitsu with the Gracies for 15 years. He has been part of the Gracie family and has followed the UFC since day one. Although his thoughts on MMA might be a bit out of touch with reality, it’s pretty cool to see a “celebrity” speak intelligently about the sport. As for the UFC in particular, he has some gripes. He doesn’t like the fact that gloves are allowed, that there are time limits, and that the ref can stand fighters up from the ground. Obviously all of those things are need to either satisfy state sanctions or to appease the fans. He also has some interesting criticism of Chuck Liddell. Check it out.
