September IS the Month of MMA

We’re used to getting our doses of mixed martial arts in monthly blocks, so 6 events in 4 weeks is surely news worthy. And the best part, 5 of these MMA events are going to be televised for free (that is, if you get Showtime, Spike TV, and Versus channels).  You may want to bookmark this for your reference (url).  Here is how the month stacks up:

wec.jpg Sept 5th:  WEC on Versus featuring main event Rob McCullough (14-3) vs. Richard Crunkilton (17-1).  Click here for complete fight card.  Click here to find the Versus channel in your area.

ufc-75.jpg Sept 9th:  UFC 75 Champion vs Champion on Spike TV feauturing Light Heavyweight Title fight with Quinton Jackson taking on “Dangerous” Dan Henderson.  Other Noticable figthts include Michael Bisping (fighting in from of his London home crowd) vs. Matt Hamill and Mirko Cro Cop vs. Cheick Kongo.  Check out the complete fight card here.

elitexc.jpg Sept 15th:  EliteXC Uprising on Showtime featuring Middleweight Championship fight with Robbie Lawler battling Murilo “Ninja” Rua.  Nick Diaz and Gina Carano will also be on the card.  Check out the schedule for the rest of September…

ufc-fight-night-11.jpg Sept 19th:  UFC Fight Night 11 on Spike TV with Kenny Florian vs. Din Thomas as the main event.  Also featured on card will be ex-TUF cast memembers Cole Miller, Luke Cummo, Gray Maynard, Pete Sell, Nate Diaz, Chris Leban and Mike Swick.  UFC Fight Night 11 will also feature the return of Nate Quarry.  Complete fight card here.

Sept 19th:  The Ultimate Fighter season premiere will follow immedately after UFC Fight Night 11 on Spike TV.  Current UFC Welterweigh Champion Matt Serra and former champ Matt Hughes will be the season’s coaches.  Check out the season 6 casing call here.

UFC 76 Sept 22nd:  UFC 76 Knockout on PPV featuring the return of former light heavyweight title king Chuck “The Iceman” Liddell as he takes on Keith Jardine.  UFC 76 will also feature the long awaited debut of Mauricio “Shogun” Rua as he goes against Forrest Griffin.  19-2-1 Jon Fitch vs. 19-1 Diego Sanchez should be on of the highlight fights of the night.  Complete fight card here.
