UFC Game Release Date Still in Question

Where the hell is this game? Back in January Zuffa announced their partnership with game development company THQ for the creation of a new Ultimate Fighting Championship video game. Since then there hasn’t been much said regarding the actual release date. However, Thursday the game was mentioned briefly during a THQ earnings conference call. Unfortunately THQ did not provide a release date. The transcripts of the call are pretty lengthy, but here is their response when asked about about UFC game.
Q: Given the point in the year in which Grand Theft Auto is launching, does that mean or does that suggest that Saints Row might be a holiday title? Where are you thinking in terms of the year for UFC? Thank you very much.
A: I will take the second part of the question first. One of the reasons we like controlling the UFC franchise is because we can plan it around our other major release like the WWE. So you should think about that not when we are going to WWE and probably later than that, although we are not prepared to announce the launch date at this time.
Here is a look at the UFC game trailer which was released many months ago. I can’t wait to see what the final product will look like…whenever that will be.

Ever thee opinionated one I tell u tha truth..I dont think they are gonna put this game out..Tha talent changes to fast for tha developers to keep up..I bet u just as they finished doing half tha roster they no longer fight. Or there is too much talent and they dont want to pay royalties..I bet cha..

Have you played a WWE game their rosters aren’t updated once they make a roster it’s final they might already have on they might have put Nick Diaz on or someone like that too bad they won’t put Kimbo Slice on it though.

as long as it has these fighters or atleast most of em ill be happy: chuck liddell, tim sylvia, gsp, frank mir, randy couture, maybe lesnar but i doubt it.

i’m actually hoping they get rid of certain fighters like dan severn, guy metzger, and a couple of those no-name japanese fighters…no offense to some of the greats, but i strongly believe it’s time to bring in more current & up & coming fighters…these are the ones that will be staying in the ufc for some time unless they royally screw up w/dana white…i’m talkin’ about gsp, nate quarry, sean sherk, kenny florian, forrest griffin, stephan bonnar, clay guida, mirko cro cop, shogun rua, spencer fisher, karo parisyan, diego sanchez, joe stevenson, rashad evans, michael bisping, matt hamill, frankie edgar, chuck liddell, tim sylvia, matt hughes, b.j. penn, jon fitch, yushin okami, rich franklin, jeff monson, anderson silva, quinton jackson, gray maynard, roger huerta, alessio sakara, matt serra, chris leben, gabriel gonzaga, mike swick, wanderlei silva….and u can def. keep certain past great fighters in there as well for i believe that these will be ones that all will enjoy using in gameplay….i.e. royce gracie, ken shamrock, tank abbott, frank mir (making a comeback), din thomas, phil baroni, randy couture, tito ortiz, jens pulver, shonie carter, etc….sorry for the huge list, but it’d be real nice to use even 1/2 of these guys…..maybe make it where you can even update the roster w/even more fighters on xbox 360 online…..just NO Button Mashing PLEASE……

rumours have it at my programming school that THQ is implementing a new graphics platform and therefore release will be set back….. orignally it was set for summer 08, now more likely be final quarter 09 unfortunatly.

I think there will be a lot of fighters in the game. i actually have a friend Drew McFredries who is going to be in the game, and he has only fought in the ufc 4 times. I hear it will have all the hall of famers although that is only 5 fighters in the hall of fame, Dan Severn, Royce gracie,Ken Shamrock mark Coleman and Randy Coture. Other than that, i know for sure this list of fighters will be in the game for sure Heavyweight - Randy Couture, Tim Sylvia,
LightHeavyweight - Rampage Jackson, Chuck Liddell, Forrest Griffin, Tito Ortiz, Keith Jardine, Thiago Silva, Wanderlei Silva and Rashad Evans
Middleweight - Anderson Silva, Dan Henderson, Rich Franklin and Micheal Bisping
Welterweight - Georges St. Pierre, Matt Serra, Matt Hughes, Diego Sanchez, Josh Koscheck, Karo Parisyan, Ben Saunders, Marcus Davis and Thiago Alves
Lightweight - BJ Penn, Sean Sherk, Mac Danzig, Matt Arroyo, Gleison Tibau, Kenny Florian and Joe Lauzon. and probably more.

This isnt the actual game….its just a CGI clip of what they want the game to actually look like and feel like…..its just a simulated clip of how its supposed to be. Yeah im hyped on it too but THQ is gonna take a big hit if they dont deliver. Oh, BTW…..the release date is slated for Fall 08′ or Sping 09′

I just hope they don’t butcher the game the way EA Sports does. The biggest thing about this game will be depth. If they can give it a comprehensive create fighter mode, with a deep career mode e.g. choosing coaches/gyms, styles, sponsership, training partners, fighter attitudes(wanker like Tito, or Gentlemen like Randy), Heaps of statistics/attributes(not just strength,speed,stamina!!!) and the choice to program your own moves(like THQ’s pride fc game)….i could go on. But graphics ain’t everything, THQ’s pride fc game was awesome, except it didn’t have a career mode, so hopefully they will build on that using modern day tech and graphics.

this game is gonna be awesome but as far as thedemo playing forrest vs griffin it will be released in 3rd quater 09 but the demo might be august or something i hope there is a demo coming this summer i cant play this game while am dealing with my schooling and shit man

Hey man. I hope Chuck Liddell rules. He’s the best ever. Rampage just got a luck hit on him. And honestly I don’t think it was a good fight because of how short it was. I hate the fights that are super short like that because you never really know who is better because it could have just been a fluke! And I hope Keith Jardine is good too!

o’kelley, ufc isn’t a sport, it’s a brand name… just like the name pride fighting and tap out and wec… mma is more of an art than a sport… while some look at the ufc as one of the premiere launching pads for some of the greatest mma competitors of the world, we still recognize our talents and our abilities as an art form and not just a beating frenzy for those who just get their jollies off on seeing some-one get messed up
