Matt Hughes Calls Matt Arroyo a Chicken

Ok, maybe not literally, but it is very much implied. You be the judge. Here is a clip from Hughes’ blog regarding Arroyo’s withdrawal from his fight with Mac Danzig:

“One thing we did find out from Dana later on was that the doctor found nothing wrong with Arroyo’s rib. When Dana told us, he was ticked. So I don’t know were Matt Arroyo came up with the cracked rib thing; but the doctors couldn’t find anything wrong with him. My idea is that he didn’t want to fight Mac and that was his way out and you can tell from his interviews that he didn’t want to fight Mac.”

I’m going to have to agree with Hughes on this one. Arroyo definitely looked like he was missing the eye of the tiger and could have sucked it up, especially considering what an amazing opportunity he was given. I also agree with Hughes on his assessment of George who looked anything but impressive with his win over Richie Hightower…

Tommy’s fight went just like I thought it would. The game plan was not to go in looking for take downs for George, the plan was just to go in there and rough him up. Tommy would wear him down and then try to finish the fight. And we knew that Tommy had knock out power and to be honest I wasn’t that impressed with George from his quarterfinal fight.

you try to fight with a crack rib, youre cardio wont be the only thing bothering you threw the whole fight and you can agrevate that injury where he wouldnt been able to move on to his fight against john and beat his ass.
