CB Dollaway Admits He Tapped

Sunday, June 22nd, 2008

Geez, after the bitching and moaning this guy did after his loss to Amir Sadollah at last night’s The Ultimate Fighter Finale, it’s a bit of a surprise how easily he admitted to tapping post fight. Obviously he had a chance to look at the video and knew there was no use in denying it further. UFC.com has a short video clip of CB getting interviewed after the fight where he says he made a mistake and needs to learn some more jiu-jitsu.

Tito and Jenna Trying to Get Pregnant

Tuesday, June 17th, 2008

Reported in the Miami Herold today, famed porn star Jenna Jamison wants to have famed MMA fighter Tito Ortiz’s baby. At a linger party at the Seminole Hard Rock Casino, where she was the host, Jamison said this about trying to have Tito’s baby:

It’s the most important thing I want in my life right now, to have a baby, become a full-time mother, and live my life forever with Tito,” said Jameson, 34. She added that Ortiz has helped her overcome her devastating divorce, which she said crippled her emotionally, physically, and financially.

Some people, when they are depressed and in pain, overeat. I just stopped eating, and I’m Italian and I love food,” said Jameson, who said her weight went down to 95 pounds. ”I am 105 pounds now with my goal weight being 120.” Jameson joked she hopes that pregnancy will help spike her appetites.

This has reality show material written all over it.

MMA Bad Boy, Dana White?

Wednesday, June 4th, 2008

Not only is the UFC everywhere these days, but so too is Dana White. I love the guy. I hate the guy. I can’t get away from the chrome-domed king of mixed martial arts.

I know a lot of people think of fighters being the bad boys of the sport (like Tito Ortiz, the Huntington Beach Bad Boy) but right now Dana seems to be fitting that bill. Check out the latest coverage of Dana in Rolling Stone magazine with their article dubbed What The F**k Is Dana White Fighting For? Here is a little taste.

You can’t make everybody happy. But you gotta understand too, in this business, I’m the promoter. My role is I’m always gonna be the fucking bad guy. No matter what I do. Or how many great things I do for people. Or how many fighters I make millionaires. Because if you’re a fight promoter, and if you make a fucking dollar, you’re a scumbag. You shouldn’t get that money, the fighters should.” He sighs, deeply. “I’m the bad guy. Always going to be the bad guy. I get it. I accept that role. I do the best I can.”

Bas Rutten Happy With Kimbo’s Performance

Tuesday, June 3rd, 2008

Today Kimbo Slice’s trainer, Bas Rutten, responded to those who have been asking (bugging) for his thoughts regarding Kimbo’s performance at Saturday’s EliteXC event. Rutten addressed the mixed martial arts community via his website, www.basrutten.tv to defend Kimbo from the criticism he subsequently faced from many MMA fans and writers.

Of course I have been asked now already many times what I thought about Kimbo’s fight and performance.

First let me start by saying: “It was his 4th fight”.

The fight was hyped up so big that Kimbo needed a perfect performance to live up to the hype. Thompson had the chance of his life time so he trained insanely hard. People expect him to go down but they forgot that he stopped Don Frey and Hidehiko Yoshida, he has a suspect jaw, but he came in to fight!

I think this fight is going to be very good for Kimbo in the future. When you start fighting and competing and you never went the distance in a fight you never know what “getting really tired” means.

Ask any fighter on the planet if they fought more than 1 round when they fought their first couple of fights, how they felt. They will tell you that they thought they were in great shape but got tired really fast.

In training you can do pretty much anything to bring your heart rate up. Focus mitts, Thai pads, takedowns, running hills, explosive weight training etc. but NOTHING compares to getting tired in a fight, it’s just a whole different ball game.
But once you know this and experienced it one time, you know what to expect in the future.
That’s why I think that this fight was great for Kimbo, he really had to dig deep and boy did he do that. He was so tired at the end of round it was crazy, but he went out in round three and just started throwing bombs again, that says a lot to me about his will power, trust me, it has been tested here! Snorkel Training With Wanderlei Silva

Friday, May 23rd, 2008

In another installment of MMA Fix on Raw Vegas.tv, Dave Farra catches up with former Pride champ Wanderlei Silva during a training session for his upcoming fight at UFC 84. There is some good footage of Wandi doing some endurance training with his nose taped shut and breathing through only a snorkel. Now that Silva is off the roid, he needs to step up the intensity naturally. I give him points for originality and resourcefulness.

Wanderlei also covers his thought on his match against Keith Jardie as well as reflects on his fight with Chuck Liddell.
