Is Ali Sonoma “The Mole?”

Saturday, May 10th, 2008

Lovely ex-UFC ring card girl Ali Sonoma will soon be a contestant on ABC’s The Mole. Ali  Sonoma, once engaged to UFC Diego Sancehz, recently moved to LA in order to pursue acting and modeling (judging by her pics she shouldn’t have much problem there). We’ll see if reality television jumpstarts her career.

The new season begins Monday June 2nd on ABC.

Check out the ABC webside for the season’s trailer.

Ricco Rodriguez on Celebrity Rehab

Friday, January 11th, 2008

Former UFC Champion Ricco Rodriquez has never recovered from his loss to Tim Sylvia ages ago and it looks he’s got some other issues he needs to recover from. Ricco will appear on this season’s VH1 Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew (on tonight). I don’t know if he leaves early or what, but in the video promo for the season they don’t show Ricco even once.

Ricco Rodriquez as a celebrity is a huge stretch. Who in the hell outside of the MMA community would know this guy? Here is Ricco’s Bio as presented on the VH1 website:

Ricco Rodriguez
Born: August 19, 1977

Rodriguez nick named Ricco “Suave” Rodriguez is an American mixed martial arts fighter with a professional MMA record of 26-7-0. He has fought in most of the major fight organizations–UFC, PRIDE, King of the Cage–and was renowned as the UFC Heavyweight Champion. Ricco has a daughter whom he raised as a single dad for two years.

UFC on CNBC Tonight

Thursday, December 13th, 2007

ufc-on-cnbc.jpg

Tonight CNBC will present a special on the UFC they are calling Ultimate Fighting: From Blood Sport to Big Time. I can already see where this one is going.

Here is the teaser for the show:

A behind the scenes look at the business behind one of the fastest growing sports: Ultimate Fighting! Once described as barbaric, human cockfighting…today mixed martial arts (a combination of combat sports like judo, wrestling and boxing) is one of the fastest growing entertainment attractions in the United States. With big-bucks television deals and product endorsements, mixed martial arts now generates as much money as blue-chip professional sports.

I wonder if it pissed off Dana White that CNBC used and image of Randy Couture on their ad for the show.

If you’re on the east coast, you’re kinda screwed because the show won’t air until 1am. West coast it will be broadcast at 10pm.

Couture Missing from UFC Best of 2007 Show

Tuesday, December 4th, 2007

Tonight Spike TV will air UFC Best of 2007, where presumably they will be showing the best fights of 2007. Interesting how a Randy Couture fight isn’t part of the line-up. The UFC is basically saying that Anderson Silva vs. Nate Marquardt was a better fight than Couture vs. Sylvia/Gonzaga.  Honestly, the most popular fighter in UFC history and heavyweight champion of your organization doesn’t make the cut? What a bunch of politial bullshit the UFC is pulling these days. This sure is getting old.

Other fights besides Silva vs. Marquardt on tap?
Roger Huerta vs. Leonard Garcia
Matt Serra vs. Georges St. Pierre

The three fights above are the only ones that have been announced. You’ll have to tune into Spike tonight at 9PM to get the full line-up.

Chuck LidDELL TV Commercial

Friday, November 23rd, 2007

This holiday season Chuck Liddell is pitching Dell computers to the masses. Check out the sweet commercial below. What the hell does the former UFC champ have to do with computers? Does Liddell’s endorsement of Dell make the computer any more desirable.

Monday, November 19th, 2007

The Donald, facing declining ratings, has put a new spin on his reality show The Apprentice. This season, the show will feature “celebrities” with UFC star and MMA fighter Tito Ortiz being part of the cast. As reported by the Associated Press, the 14 “celebrities” won’t be vying for a job with Donald Trump, as in the previous six “Apprentice” seasons, but instead will compete in business-oriented tasks around New York City to raise money for their favorite charities. The official “Celebrity Apprentice” will win a $250,000 bonus to donate.

The full list of cast members include (more…)
