Andrei Arlovski on Jerry Springer

Friday, September 28th, 2007

Oh how the mighty have fallen.  This week former UFC heavyweight beast Andrei Arlovski made an appearance on the Jerry Springer show as a guest bouncer.  At one point during the show Arlovski’s girl comes out of the audience to take Andrei’s shirt off, much to the delight of the crowd.   Trash TV at its finest.

…and just in case you want a better look at Arlovski’s girlfriend

A Look at The Ultimate Fighter 6 Contestants

Wednesday, September 19th, 2007

Yes, we all know that season 6 of The Ultimate Fighters is supposed to be one of the most volatile seasons yet.  And we all know that there is plenty of bad blood between welterweight coaches Matt Hughes and Matt Serra.  What we don’t know is much about the contestants of The Ultimate Fighter 6.  Here is a quick overview of the relatively unknown mixed martial arts fighters who will appear on the television show:

Mac Danzig, 27
MMA record: 17-4-1
Will be the most experienced fighter in the house. Trains at Legends Gym in Los Angeles along side Karo Parisyan and Manny Gamburyan. Most recent fight was a KO loss to Hayato Sakurai at Pride 33.

Joe Scarola, 28
MMA record: 6-0
Scarola is a member of Matt Serra’s Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Academy in Long Island. (we can only hope Hughes picks him for his team)

Matt Arroyo, 24
MMA record: 2-1
Attended the University of Tampa on a baseball scholarship, but by the time he graduated in 2003, had given up baseball and earned a purple belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.

Roman Mitichyan, 28
MMA record: 8-1
Born in Armenia, moved to LA in 2000 to pursue acting. (not sure if he trains with Karo or Manny who are both from Armenia)

New UFC Television Show

Tuesday, September 18th, 2007

UFC WiREDWouldn’t it be cool to be able to relive some of the classic UFC matches from the early years such as Royce Gracie vs. Dan Severn at UFC 4? Or watch Maurice Smith as he shocked the MMA world by beating the unstoppable Mark Coleman?

Begining October 6th, The UFC will air a new television series on local stations called UFC WiRED, in which Joe Rogan looks back at some of the greatest fights in UFC history. Don’t worry, Mike Goldberg won’t be involved filling the air with blather. This is Joe Rogan solo dishing out his unique perspective.

Check here at UFC.com to find what channel UFC WiRED will be shown in your area.

Chuck Liddell in a Nickleback Music Video

Monday, September 10th, 2007

Chuck LiddellThe Ice man is a Rockstar!  At least he’s appearing in a music video by Nickleback for the song Rockstar.  Who the hell would have guess a few years ago that a UFC (or any other MMA fighter) would appear in a music video that include famed celebrities such as Gene Simons, Wayne Gretzki, Kid Rock, Pall Wall, and others?  The former UFC champion only has a couple of quick appearances, but nonetheless, it’s yet another sign that MMA is the sport of the future.
